Our A4L Afterschool & Summer Camp program at Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary delights children, families, and school administrators. Our creative approach to engagement and use of the arts and imagination nurtures students academically and artistically so that they can thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Our full aftercare program consists of:

  • Visual and Performing Arts Classes (music, theater, and visual art)
  • Fun fitness through creative movement and dance classes
  • Homework Help
  • Daily Snack
  • Literacy and Reading Support – including small group support for struggling readers
  • Programming for the full school year (180 days of programming; no programming on days the school is closed for breaks or teacher planning days)
  • Hours: M-F 1:50 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Registration is open to students of all abilities who attend Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary

Our annual 6-week summer camp at Finlay is an extravaganza of creativity and consists of:

  • Visual and Performing Arts Classes (music, theater, and visual art)
  • Fun fitness through creative movement and dance classes
  • Engaging Literacy and Reading Support – so it does not feel like work over the summer! – including small group support for struggling readers
  • Team Sports
  • Breakfast & Lunch
  • Hours: M-F 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Programming does not run on the Juneteenth (June 19) & July 4th holidays

Due to the high demand for programming, registration is on a lottery basis. We maintain a waitlist should a spot become available. Our afterschool program serves 90 students grades K-5 and our summer camp serves 60 students grades K-5 (including incoming kindergarten students who have registered for school at Finlay).

The A4L After-School and A4L Summer Camp programs are funded by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
