Meet Carlos Noguera, A4L Artist Services Director, as he shares his thoughts on being part of Team A4L, an impactful moment and his favorite activity!

What brought you to A4L and how long have you been with the organization?
A4L’s mission and impactful initiatives are what brought me to the organization. I initially joined as a Teaching Artist for a couple of summers. I transitioned to the role of Artist Services Director in 2022, a testament to my sustained commitment to contributing meaningfully to the organization’s objectives and fostering artistic excellence.

What is your day-to-day at A4L like?
Unpredictable! But I love it. I usually start my day with emails, and following up on loose ends. Then I might have an interview for a a potential Teaching Artist or might have to meet one of our current Teaching Artists for supply distribution, etc. Then in the afternoon, I get to visit Teaching Artists at their sites to watch their magic unfold. I love bringing my camera to capture little glimpses of these specials moments.

Tell us some fun facts about you.
I discovered Triathlon 3 years ago and its been amazing! I’m training for a full Ironman race this April.

Do you have an artistic or non-artistic accomplishment you’re most proud of?
I got to teach Art overseas for 10 years (in Korea and United Arab Emirates). In my time abroad, I got to organize a few service-action trips to Cambodia with high school students.

What has been a life lesson you’ve learned through the arts?
There is potential in almost everything if you look for it.

What inspires you about the work A4L does?
To know that we are broadening students’ understanding of the world through meaningful Arts experiences.

Do you have an impactful A4L story to share?
I got to teach Joseph Canizales when he was in Middle School – and then I got to see him teach last summer!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our students, parents, partners and community supporters?
I love working in a small team of individuals deeply committed to Arts in Education!
