Lewis Arts Studio

Job Description:

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to support the Lewis Arts Studio (LAS) program through consistent presence and leadership.  The Lewis Arts Studio is a creative haven for 4th-8th graders who have a strong interest in the visual and performing arts. The Counselor helps guide students through daily arts classes and enrichment activities while promoting safety, engagement, and personal growth. This role requires initiative, a calm and supportive demeanor, and the ability to work collaboratively in a creative learning environment. The Counselor also supports classroom routines, maintains records, and fosters communication between families and program staff. This position reports to: Summer Program Manager 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with snack and/or meal distribution and clean up
  • Manage activity/task transitions
  • Plan, lead & oversee daily group games/free choice activities
  • Assist staff and faculty during field trips and events
  • Participate in regular staff meetings to discuss and review best practices, participant engagement, and meet program objectives
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment
  • Serve as a role model to the participants
  • Assist with & confirm daily attendance
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, photo releases, & emergency contact forms
  • Assist the Teaching Artist in daily tasks and support instruction
  • Learn, understand, enforce, and implement all safety guidelines and program procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, being responsible for participants’ safety and knowing their whereabouts at all times
  • Ensure the assigned areas are kept clean and organized
  • Assist with program supply & equipment organization & storage
  • Share concerns, comments, and feedback with site and/or program management
  • Document program activities

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset
  • A clear Level II Background Screening
  • First Aid and CPR Certification preferred
  • Experience in youth development or arts environments is a plus

Schedule:

Monday – Friday; 8:45 AM – 4:15 PM; June 9 -July 25, 2025; no programming on June 19th or July 4th

Compensation:

$18.00/hour
