We’re excited to announce the launch of A4L Afterschool at Laura C. Saunders Elementary School in Homestead! This free after-school program is part of Arts Access Miami’s ongoing commitment to providing equitable access to the arts for all children in our community, with a special focus on South Miami-Dade.
What is A4L Afterschool?
This high-quality arts program offers elementary aged students the chance to explore their creativity through visual and performing arts classes. The program provides a safe and inspiring space for students to develop confidence, imagination, and key skills for success so that they can thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Over the course of the program at Laura Saunders Elementary, students will participate twice a week in dynamic dance and visual arts sessions, culminating in a special showcase event in May, where they can proudly present their work and achievements to family and friends.
Through programs like A4L Afterschool, we aim to nurture the positive growth and development of the students we serve while ensuring that they have the opportunity to experience the joy of the arts and the creative process.
The success of the five-day-a-week A4L Afterschool program at Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary, funded by The Children’s Trust, serves as an inspiring example of the program’s impact. Students at Finlay Elementary have flourished creatively and academically, showcasing their talents and accomplishments through the arts. This proven model demonstrates how access to high-quality arts programming enriches students’ lives and strengthens their connection to their schools.
Arts Access Miami (AAM) is a transformative collective impact initiative uniting 25 of Miami’s leading arts education organizations. AAM was created to ensure that all youth in a community, from grades K-12, gain access to free, high-quality music and arts education programs, both in and out of school across Miami-Dade County. By partnering with local schools, artists, and organizations, Arts Access Miami ensures that children from all backgrounds can access programs like A4L Afterschool—helping to close the gap in arts education and inspire the next generation of creators, leaders, and changemakers.
